Just letting everyone know that there are new videos on the blog to watch (no, they're not anything to do with Orthodoxy :~P). They're called Seventh-day Adventism: The spirit behind the church and Adventist Debates: Walter Martin vs. William Johnsson.
Seventh-day Adventism: The spirit behind the church was put together by some former Adventists (how appropriate for this blog, right?). I found it to be quite an interesting take on Adventism from those who had been a part of it for many years. I recommend everyone watch it as I'm sure that it will be rather fascinating. Also, Adventist debates is a great watch for any Adventist or former Adventist to watch. A very intellectual and vigorous debate!
Enjoy!

David, I have seen these videos.
Concerning the "Spirit behind the church" videos, it is more propaganda and disinformation than anything else.
Concerning the debate between Walter Martin and William Johnsson, the setting was not particular well organized. Poor William Johnsson was alone facing the crowd (which was not particular sympathetic to him) and he was supposed to answer questions that would have necessitated time to develop to allow the people why the SDAs believe such and such doctrines. Yourself David knows how long it takes you, me and other people on your blog or Hugo's to speak about a single point of doctrine. It takes sometimes days. Now, was Johnsson supposed to give precise answers in the frame of the show, above all when you consider that, in addition to Walter Martin and the host asking questions, there was also the public asking questions.
Even though I think that Johnsson was not too articulate during the show, I would not have liked to be in his shoes. It was more a setup than a show.
Still,
I'm not saying you're wrong but would you care to elaborate as to WHY the "Spirit Behind the Church" is propaganda? For example, was there disinformation in that video? If so, where? Give me an example. Were quotes taken out of context? If so, where? Again I'd like an example.
Simply stating something is propaganda without backing your conclusion up with sound reasoning is poor judgment.
I've watched both videos and the "spirit behind the church" is pretty much dead on(exSDA here of 30 years). The other video is kinda boring and doesn't really get into the problems in depth. Sorry Dave.
To answer the question as to why the video is propaganda and inaccurate, please visit a site whos author wrote a book dealing with every single point in the book. He tried to contact the authors of the video but to no avail:
